Can I eat carbs after 2pm on Cycle 3 of the 17 Day Diet? The answer might surprise you.
The answer: YES!
We all are too familiar with the rule “No carbs after 2pm on Cycles 1 and 2”. Carbs mean fruit, breads, pastas, legumes and starchy vegetables such as corn, etc.
I will have to admit that for a good year and a half I always thought this rule applied to Cycle 3 as well, but I WAS WRONG!
I frequently refer back to the book, and sometimes re-read chapters as I always pick up a golden nugget I hadn’t before.
This happened about 9 months ago when I browsed the chapter regarding Cycle 3 — and it SURPRISED ME!
On page 81 of the 17 Day Diet book, Dr. Moreno talks about this very little known rule…
“On Cycle 3, you’re allowed to have carbs at dinner. But if you want to spur weight loss, continue avoiding carbs after 2:00 p.m.”
So the question becomes this: Do I want to continue to try to lose weight during Cycle 3? If your answer is “yes”, then best to avoid eating carbs (fruits, starchy veggies) after 2pm.
If you are on Cycle 3 because you enjoy the variety of foods allowed and don’t need to lose any additional weight, by all means enjoy your small serving of pasta for dinner.
