
There’s nothing worse than splurging over a holiday, gaining a few pounds, feeling lethargic and having no motivation to do anything about it! No worries! This simple 1 Day Detox Cleanse is here to the rescue!
This 1 Day Detox Cleanse follows the principles of the 17 Day Diet. This also works well with any type of low carb diet.
I’ve added a few more guidelines to maximize your cleanse, so you can get back on track in no time!
Detoxifying Foods
To start, there are certain foods that help your body rid itself of toxins. Here are a few:
- Lemon
- Garlic
- Green Tea
- Asparagus
- Broccoli
- Cabbage
- Leafy Greens
- Cilantro

Guidelines for 1 Day Detox Cleanse
You can do anything for one day, right? Here is a general list of guidelines for this simple detox cleanse to help you get back on track.
Drink Plenty of Water
Drinking enough water is going to be key with this detox cleanse meal plan. If you’re on the 17 Day Diet, it’s recommended to get at least eight 8oz glasses of water.
Some believe drinking half their weight in ounces is a good starting point as well.
Bottom line: get your water in!
Drink Green Tea
Green tea is a staple on the 17 Day Diet. In fact, the recommended daily serving is at least one cup of tea with each meal.
Green tea is filled with antioxidants and helps you burn fat.
Remember, green tea is considered a “negative water”, so make sure you’re drinking plenty of water if you have green tea throughout the day.
Avoid Dairy Products
During this detox cleanse, you’ll avoid dairy for the day.
This means no cheese, no milk, and no dairy-based yogurt.
Dairy products are inflammatory, so it’s best to avoid them during this detox cleanse to give your body and digestive system a bit of a break.
Stick to Lean Proteins
During this detox cleanse, you’ll stick to lean proteins such as chicken breast or lean turkey or fish such as salmon or tuna.
Chicken or turkey is especially easier to digest than red meat, so it’s best to stick to the plan to maximize your cleanse.
Eggs are appropriate for this detox cleanse meal plan, but limit your portion to two eggs for this day.
There’s a reason why the 17 Day Diet Cycle 1 Food List is filled with lean proteins, especially during the first 17 days.
Lean proteins are your best friend during this 1 day detox cleanse.
Low Carb For Weight Loss
This detox cleanse is best with low carb recipes, if possible. Especially if you’re looking to lose weight in the process.
You’ll see a lot of green vegetables in this meal plan that are not only detoxifying, but low carb and great for a quick detox!
I do feature a granola recipe as an alternative that’s fairly low carb.
Basically, avoid pastas, bread, rice and starchy veggies!
Avoid Added Sugar
During this detox cleanse, it’s best to stay away from sugar – both real and artificial, including “natural” sweeteners.
Sugar not only spikes insulin, but it also makes you crave more sweets.
You can give up sugar for one day, right?
1 Day Detox Cleanse Meal Plan
Now that you have an idea of how the 1 day detox cleanse will work, let’s go over the entire meal plan for the day.
Wake Up Drink for 1 Day Detox Cleanse
- Hot Lemon Water
Within a half hour of waking, drink 8oz of hot lemon water. If you can stomach it, squeeze a full lemon into your hot water.
If this proves to be too much, a few tablespoons of lemon juice will suffice.
Breakfast for 1 Day Detox Cleanse
- Asparagus and Eggs
- Green Tea
- Plenty of water
This particular recipe calls for a bit of Parmesan cheese, but skip it for this 1 day detox cleanse.
If you really want to get your metabolism going, sprinkle a pinch of chili flakes over the top!
Lunch for 1 Day Detox Cleanse
- Lemony Chicken and Kale Detox Soup
- Green Tea
- Plenty of water
The Lemony Chicken and Kale Detox Soup is filled with detoxifying foods that will not only help rid your body of toxins and it will keep you satiated for quite a while.
The combination of lemon, chili flakes and kale make for a winning combo!
Dinner For 1 Day Detox Cleanse
- Chicken Cabbage & Broccoli Stir Fry
- Green Tea
- Plenty of water
Cabbage is a perfect food for weight loss and a detox cleanse. And while we’re talking veggies, so is broccoli!
This recipe uses ground chicken, so it’s a perfect lean protein for a detox cleanse!
If you don’t want to use chicken, use turkey instead!
Snacks for Detox Cleanse
The key to this 1 day detox cleanse is to make sure you drink plenty of water and eat sufficient calories.
If you find yourself hungry in between meals, here are a few snack ideas:
- Sliced Cucumbers
- Handful of blueberries
- Cold Asparagus Spears
- Green Apple
- Leftover soup from lunch
