The possibilities are endless with Cool Chicken Lettuce Wraps.
You can make them spicy, savory, a bit salty or plain Jane! In this Cool Chicken Lettuce Wraps recipe, you’re going to find explosions of flavor and a little kick in the heat department with the added spice.
The great thing about spicy food is that it helps you drink more water to cool down, so that’s a plus, especially if you’re trying to lose weight on the 17 Day Diet!
I’ve recently updated this recipe as it was pretty out of date. So if you’ve been here before, you might see a few changes not only in aesthetic, but the recipe itself.
I think the recipe is written a little better, plus the photos are a little more updated, too!
Ingredients for Ground Chicken Lettuce Wraps
The ingredients for these healthy ground chicken lettuce wraps are pretty straight forward. You likely have most of these in your cabinet.
Here they are:
- ground chicken (or minced chicken breast)
- Ginger
- Garlic
- Chinese 5 spice
- Asian Red Chili Sauce
- Rice Wine Vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- Low Sodium Soy Sauce
- Sesame Oil
- Your favorite lettuce leaves (Bibb, Boston, Iceburg, etc)
- Green onion
Lettuce Wrap Toppings
The main recipe calls for diced green onion as a garnish. However, I also give you ideas on additional lettuce wrap toppings if you want to increase flavor, fiber and texture.
Here are my suggestions for additional lettuce wrap toppings:
- Shredded Cabbage
- Shredded Carrots
- Bean Sprouts
- Cilantro
- Bell Pepper
- Hot Chili Pepper
- Sriracha or Additional Chili Sauce
Minced Chicken Lettuce Wraps
If you want to have a bit more texture to your lettuce wraps, you can mince your chicken breast into small pieces rather than use ground chicken.
It will take more time obviously, but you’ll have slightly bigger pieces and it will be chewier rather than ground chicken lettuce wraps.
The choice is yours and you really can’t go from with mince vs ground.

How do you mince the chicken breast?
With a VERY sharp knife! If you don’t have a very sharp nice, consider cutting into small chunks and once you’re finished with the cooking at the very end, then mince it more. It’s definitely easier to mince meat when it’s cooked, and I think you can do it this way if you want.
Hi! Love your blog. My question is, can we use powdered peanut butter in our smoothies, and if so, is there a recipe you would recommend? It seems low in fat and high in protein.
Hi Pam! Thank you! I’d stay away from powdered peanut butter during Cycle 1 and 2. If you’re going to use it, try during Cycle 3, but keep an eye on your weight loss during that time. It’s technically not on the approved list. Also be careful of what brands as a lot of them contain yucky ingredients!
