The possibilities are endless with lettuce wraps. You can make them spicy, savory, a bit salty or plain Jane! In this recipe, you’re going to find explosions of flavor and a little kick in the heat department. This is a super-friendly weight loss recipe.
Cool Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients:
3.5 oz chicken breast, minced
½ inch fresh ginger, minced (or dry, ground ginger)
Minced fresh garlic
Minced green onion
1 tablespoon Olive Oil, divided
1 teaspoon Asian Red Chile Sauce (or your favorite Chili Sauce)
1 teaspoon Chinese 5 spice
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon wheat free Tamari sauce
Directions:
Over medium heat, add ½ of Olive Oil, garlic, ginger and onion and cook until soft.
Add remaining Olive Oil and minced chicken breast to pan and cook thoroughly.
Add to meat mixture the chili sauce, Chinese 5 Spice, rice wine vinegar and Tamari sauce. Cook 5 minutes, stirring over low heat to reduce liquid.
Remove from heat, spoon into whole lettuce leaves and roll; Bibb lettuce, Boston lettuce or Iceberg are all great choices.
Bragg Liquid Amino can be substituted for Tamari, but it gives the dish an entire different flavor.
For extra crunch, top with bean sprouts.

I’ve been loving the 17 Day Diet since 2011. As you know, your health & wellness is a life-long journey and food is one piece of the puzzle. I love sharing my favorite healthy recipes and meal plans to keep you motivated and on the right path to success!

I’m not a big fan of eggs. any other breakfast ideas?
Breakfast is a great time to have your yogurt and fruit.
How do you mince the chicken breast?
With a VERY sharp knife! If you don’t have a very sharp nice, consider cutting into small chunks and once you’re finished with the cooking at the very end, then mince it more. It’s definitely easier to mince meat when it’s cooked, and I think you can do it this way if you want.
Hi! Love your blog. My question is, can we use powdered peanut butter in our smoothies, and if so, is there a recipe you would recommend? It seems low in fat and high in protein.
Hi Pam! Thank you! I’d stay away from powdered peanut butter during Cycle 1 and 2. If you’re going to use it, try during Cycle 3, but keep an eye on your weight loss during that time. It’s technically not on the approved list. Also be careful of what brands as a lot of them contain yucky ingredients!
